Vanessa says: “Jack and I were looking for a quiet area to purchase our first home and felt like we’d found a real hidden gem when we came across Shipston. Using the scheme meant we could purchase a three-bedroom, semi-detached property, which met all of the requirements for our first home.”

The government provides an equity loan of up to 20% of the property price, which is interest free for the first five years. The remaining balance is funded by the purchaser with a mortgage.
Vanessa continues: “The help we received meant the house fell well within our budget, and even left us with some extra funds to furnish our new property. To be able to buy our perfect first home in our number one location really was a dream come true.”
“What really stands out with Cala is the quality of the properties. The kitchen in our new home is light and spacious and of a really high specification; it will definitely be the heart of our new home. The garden is also a fantastic space, which we really didn’t expect from a new build. Cala even provided us with carpets throughout, which was a real added bonus.
“We’ve been in our new home for a few months now and we absolutely love living in Shipston. The town itself is so lovely and we have fantastic community-spirited neighbours – it really feels like everyone is supportive of one another. It’s wonderful to be able to live near to the Cotswolds, and Shipston offers the vibrancy we wanted from a market town, but without the business of a typical tourist destination.”
