The new community being created at Cala at Kingsmere is beginning to take shape as the first residents settle in to their new life at this landmark 247-home Bicester development, which forms part of the wider Kingsmere consortium.

The first residents to move into the flagship Cala at Kingsmere development are Serena Chamberlain and her 23-year-old daughter Megan.

Serena had previously been undergoing a self-build project in Bicester, which she thought would be the best way to achieve her dream home.

After having doubts about the self-build process, Serena viewed a number of new developments in the area, and it was the quality workmanship, the five-star Home Builders Federation (HBF) status and personable approach of the sales team which led her to choose a Cala home.
Serena says: “We had been renting a home for two years, whilst simultaneously going through the process of building what I thought would be our dream home. Little did I know that not too far away Cala Homes was building my dream home for me. I didn’t believe anything could compare to the house that I had envisioned building, however during my first visit to Cala at Kingsmere my opinion dramatically changed and I knew I had found something even better.

“I think we visited every single new build development in Bicester on the hunt for our dream home – some of them more than twice – but Cala Homes was definitely more superior. The quality and workmanship of the houses is truly impressive and the innovative design and ultra-high specification gives you the feeling of luxury. I studied every single house layout and site plan of all the local builders and Cala was consistently my favourite. The staff are truly great people and it was refreshing to have such knowledgeable assistance and friendliness, without a hard sell. I loved everything about the development – the site itself, the atmosphere, the house and the people is exactly what I wanted out of my new home.”

Serena chose the three-bedroom, semi-detached Himscot housetype, which features an impressive open plan kitchen/family room with French doors to the rear garden, allowing light to flood throughout the space.

The en-suite master bedroom and second bedroom both benefit from fitted wardrobes, and the home boasts a number of useful storage cupboards to keep everything neat and tidy.

Serena continues: “We fell in love with the Himscot at first sight. The sales team explained that all of the homes on the development are part of Cala’s Light and Space range, which really appealed to me. Our house is so cleverly designed, creating fantastic space and storage and making use of every single inch available. In other new builds that we had viewed, you either had a fantastic space upstairs or downstairs – but never both. With a Cala home, there were no compromises and we were totally delighted with the layout. We have a great-sized living room and a fabulous kitchen space overlooking the garden, and all of the rooms have high ceilings and large windows which really emphasise the space.”

Serena has lived in Bicester for 25 years and wanted to focus her house hunt on the town.

Megan is a business manager for a premium beauty brand in Oxford, and so commuter links were a big factor in their decision on where to live.

Serena continues: “Bicester is a great place to live – it really is location, location, location. We have two train stations with easy access to London, Birmingham and Oxford, and the A41, A34 and M40 provide quick access to all routes. Bicester is blooming with places to eat, drink, shop and socialise – especially Bicester Village – as well as being surrounded by a number of natural and historic sites.

“It’s amazing that we found our perfect home, on a lovely development in the exact location we wanted to buy. We've loved being the first residents here but are looking forward to having neighbours and can't wait to meet more people and see the community really blossom.”

Neil Simpson, Regional Director for Cala Homes Midlands, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to welcome our first residents to Cala at Kingsmere and it’s wonderful to hear that Serena and Megan have had such a positive experience. This is an exciting new development for us as we aim to build on the community being created at Kingsmere and offer local house hunters high-quality new homes.

“We’ve had an overwhelmingly positive response since launching the first homes. With the facilities that will be available once Kingsmere is complete, the open space and variety of homes available, we expect the development to appeal to a wide range of buyers.”

Situated on Middleton Stoney Road, Cala at Kingsmere is the latest development on a brand new community of new homes, shops, schools and leisure facilities.

The development offers a contemporary collection of 247 three and four-bedroom homes and two-bedroom apartments, ideal for first-time buyers, commuters, families and downsizers alike.

Kingsmere is situated just one mile from the centre of Bicester and a short walk to the famous Bicester Village designer outlet. The development itself is home to a range of new facilities including a community centre, convenience store and sports village.
